Event title 6th Annual Heirloom Tomato Festival

Event description:
This increasingly popular festival is sure to be even bigger and better in 2009. Spread across a beautiful 12 acre meadow, the festival will feature dozens of varieties of Heirloom Tomatoes for taste testing, live bluegrass music, local craft vendors displaying fine art, pottery, jewelry and more. There will also be on-going painting demonstrations by local artists throughout the day. Admission fee to the festival is $5.00 per person. What’s a festival without food? Among many food items to be offered for sale are southern favorites such as, Tomato Tartlets, Tomato Sandwiches and of course Fried Green Tomatoes. Vendors of handcrafted, regionally influenced crafts or locally grown produce are invited to contact the Inn for an application. Vendor booth rental - $50.00 nonrefundable. Vendor deposits required by May 31, 2009. Festival ends with Twilight Tomato Supper. Reservations are required for the supper. Twilight Supper cost - $35.00 per person. Fresh at Farmers Markets
From peaches to pears to pawpaws, it’s a fabulous time to find fruit at area markets.
 
This past Saturday was the first market day of the season for vendor Fresh Pearspective, who offer, you guessed it, pears! Their booth at Asheville City Market was filled with Bosch and Seckel varieties to buy and sample.
