Please stop by Madison County Cooperative Extension Saturday (10am-2pm) to pick up some winter veggies, delicious breakfast, crafts, goat cheese and more!  A dozen vendors will be set up as part of a new winter indoor tailgate market that will occur every 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month in January, February and March.  Mark your calendars now!  (Jan 9, Jan 23, Feb 13, Feb 27, March 13, March 27).  Accepting cash, checks, credit/debit, EBT.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS:

From Asheville take 19-23/I26 North to the Marshall Exit 19-A. Follow Hwy 25/70 North/West for 9.3 miles, after the 4 lane road becomes a 2 lane road turn RIGHT onto LONG BRANCH ROAD (Do not take the first Long Branch Road off the four lane).  (Look for NC Cooperative Extension signs at each of the turn offs; these signs will be low to the ground) Once on LONG BRANCH ROAD go .4 miles and turn RIGHT onto KENPACK LANE (first road on the right). Then go .2 miles and turn RIGHT onto ELDERBERRY LANE (first road on the right), then IMMEDIATELY turn LEFT onto CAROLINA LANE. Go .2 miles (you will pass ball fields on the left) and Madison County Cooperative  Extension will be to your left (you will see NC Cooperative Extension sign in front of parking lot and a sign on the building).

Fresh at Farmers Markets
From peaches to pears to pawpaws, it’s a fabulous time to find fruit at area markets.
 
This past Saturday was the first market day of the season for vendor Fresh Pearspective, who offer, you guessed it, pears! Their booth at Asheville City Market was filled with Bosch and Seckel varieties to buy and sample.
